Montrose Area Schools were on lockdown this afternoon on order from Sheriff Lance Benedict in reaction to information received regarding a potential threat concerning individuals within the district.  According to a press release from Robert Klein, the District Attorney of Susquehanna County, at 12:21 PM the Sheriff's office received information regarding a potential threat concerning specific individuals within the Montrose Area School District.

According to the release Sheriff Benedict directed the school to be put on lockdown until the individuals could be identified and removed from school.  The District Attorney's office said there was no known continuing or immediate threat to students or faculty in the Montrose Schools.  The DA's Office, Sheriff's Office and state and local police are continuing their investigation.
