Local Charities Given Boost by Former Major League Pitcher Jim “Mudcat” Grant

The 12th Annual Jim “Mudcat” Grant Celebrity All-Star Golf Tournament  is set for August 29th at the Links at Hiawatha Landing.  The event which is sponsored and organized by Security Mutual Life Insurance Company of New York will provide funds to four area organizations dedicated to helping area children and their families.

Organizations designated as this year’s recipients of proceeds from the event include: The Broome County Urban league, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Binghamton, Catholic Charities of Broome County and CHOW.

Jim “Mudcat” Grant is a former major league pitcher and a member of the “Black Aces”.  The “Black Aces” are comprised of African-American Major League pitchers who have won 20 or more games in a single season. Grant was 21-7 with the Minnesota Twin in 1965.

Grant will be joined by numerous other former big league players and standouts and dignitaries from around the sports world as well as golfers from all over the area.
