More details on a $17 million project to bring the old Link Flight Simulation site in Kirkwood back to life are about to be released.

Broome County businessman Daniel Babcock wants to redevelop the 42-acre site off Industrial Park Drive. The new office space will be called Link Park.

The plan represents an effort to bring the mostly-empty 426,000-square-foot structure back to life. Construction on the project is scheduled to be completed early next year.

Political, business and economic leaders have been invited to attend a downtown Binghamton event next Thursday to learn about the design and conceptual plans for the project.

As part of the project, Modern Marketing Concepts will expand its Broome County operations.

The company now employs more than 300 people. It expects to add to its local workforce over the next five years.

Modern Marketing Concepts is to receive a $5 million capital grant and $800,000 in tax credits from the state. A state incentive package also includes a $5 million loan to assist in the acquisition and redevelopment of the Kirkwood facility.
