The Levene Gouldin and Thompson Tennis Challenger continues through Sunday at Recreation Park on the West Side of Binghamton. This marks the 21st anniversary of the event.  The tournament is a USTA Pro Circuit Event  and a member of the Challenger Tour.

Competition is tough and participants include world class professionals and top U.S. Junior and College players.  It is the first event in the US Open  Wild Card Series and last year's LG & T runner-up Bradley Klahn won the wild card into the Open.  Klahn returns this year to look for a championship.

The most notable player to compete in the LG & T Tennis Challenger is 2005 champion Andy Murray who has gone on to become one of the top stars in professional tennis.  Murray has won the 2012 US Open, the gold medal in the 2012 Olympics and won Wimbledon in 2013. Other standouts include Olympic Gold Medalist Nicolas Massu, Lleyton Hewitt, James Blake and Mark Philippoussis.

Play advances into the weekend with semi-finals set for Saturday and the finals scheduled for Sunday.  Numerous community events are included in the tournament. The Discovery Center Pastabilities with a Taste of Tennis will be held tomorrow from 630 - 8 PM.  Tickets for Pastabilities and each day of tennis competition are available at Recreation Park.
