Motorists will now be able to turn left at the intersection of Airport Road north and the State Route 17 west on-ramp at the City of Binghamton/ Town of Dickinson line using a new flashing yellow arrow.

Oncoming traffic still has the right-of-way, so left-turn drivers still have to yield to those vehicles.

The New York State Department of Transportation says it expects the change will reduce delays for drivers turning left, especially during low traffic volume periods.  The DOT says that will save both time and fuel.

The New York State Department of Transportation Traffic, Safety and Mobility engineers will continue to monitor the traffic flow at the intersection
