A public hearing will be held in September on the treatment of landfill leachate at i3 Electronics in Endicott.

Community activists say the operation is polluting the Village water while the company says the treatment plant is operating safely and sustaining the local economy.

i3 held an informational meeting yesterday with community leaders at what the company said was a show of transparency.

i3 processes and treats 80,000 gallons of waste water from landfills each day in Endicott.

i3 is asking the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation to grant it a water treatment permit.

The public hearing is September 14 at Union Endicott High School.
