No injuries are being reported following an accidental release of leachate at the Cortland County landfill.

Emergency Services officials say the New York Department of Environmental Conservation Emergency Spill Hotline was notified by the Cortland County Highway Department December 22nd of the discovery of the release of an unknown quantity of leachate.

Officials say the release was due in part to snow melt and heavy rain.

County officials say they are working closely with the NYSDEC to examine any other factors that may have contributed to the release.

The officials say the December 22nd incident has been resolved.
