Laurens Man is Killed on the Job

An Otsego County man working as part of a highway tree-cutting crew is dead after being hit by a tree November 23.

New York State Police say 27 year old Adam Burgess of Laurens was working along Bissell Road in the Town of Otsego at 9:44 a.m. when he was hit by the falling tree.

He was pronounced dead at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown about an hour later as a result of a skull fracture.

Burgess was part of a three man crew clearing trees for the Town of Otsego Highway Department.
