Broome and Tioga Counties have been in the clear for other that a light dusting of snow, but a Lake Effect Snow Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service until 7 p.m. February 16 for Chenango, Cortland and Otsego Counties with three to 6 inches of snow possible in some areas and blowing a drifting.

The whole region is looking at wind gusts that could top 20 miles an hour.

Blowing and drifting snow could create visibility problems as well as a quick coating of snow on some otherwise clear roadways.

Motorists are encouraged to give themselves a little extra time in any advisory area to get where they are going and be on the lookout for rapidly changing road conditions.
