U.S. Senator Charles Schumer of New York and local leaders in Walton in Delaware County and Campbell in Steuben County are among those fighting to convince Kraft-Heinz Company not to close their cheese plants.

Cottage cheese and sour cream are made in Walton while Campbell produces mozzarella, string cheese and other cheese products.

The locations, in addition to a plant in Avon that makes CoolWhip and Lunchables are under review according to the company.

In all, the three locations employ about 940 workers.

Kraft merged with H.J. Heinz in July.  The deal was said to be worth $46 billion.

Company officials have said a decision on the fate of the three locations could come as early as next week.
