The Kopernik Observatory and Science Center is closer to developing a playground based on science, technology, engineering and math.

M&T Bank has presented a $15,000 grant for the project.

Kopernik and the Junior League of Binghamton are looking to raise $535,000 for the park.

Kopernik has been working for the past three years to secure the funding and now has raised $365,000.

The new playground is to provide more hands-on science-driven stations for children and families.
