The Kopernik Space and Science Center in Vestal has its plans in place for both spring and summer programs.

Speaking on the March 19 edition of the weekly local public affairs program, Southern Tier Close Up observatory executive director, Andrew Deskur goes over several of the planned programs, many of which are not related to space.

Young people will be able to explore codes, build robots and even talk to an astronaut aboard the International Space Station.

Deskur says another popular program is the annual Rocketfest.

Information on specific programs at the Observatory on Underwood Road in Vestal can be found on their website: www.kopernik.org.

Residents can also sign up online for Clear Sky Alerts to inform them when viewing is ideal at the observatory.

Southern Tier Close Up can be heard Saturdays at 12:10 p.m. on News Radio 1290 WNBF.
