New York State Police say it's not clear if weather contributed to a serious crash in Kirkwood that left a woman hospitalized.

43 year old Annette Andrews, who apparently recently moved to the Town of Kirkwood, was driving on Route 11 near the old Cedarhurst Elementary School at around 8:30 p.m. February 26th, when her vehicle left the road and hit a tree.

The responding officer said Andrews was unresponsive when she was pulled from the vehicle. She was transported to Wilson Regional Medical Center where she underwent emergency surgery and was placed in the intensive care unit.

Troopers say the woman's 18 month old son was not injured.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
