Juicy Lucy Burger Recipe

Don’t know what a Juicy Lucy is? It’s an inside-out cheeseburger! The ingredients are listed for a single serving, so just expand as needed for your picnic!

Juicy Lucy Burger Recipe (Prep time 5-10 minutes)

For each burger:

½ lb ground beef

1 Tbl. Crumbled bacon

1 slice American cheese

Salt, pepper

Make two thin patties from the beef that has been allowed to come to room temperature.  Break the cheese slices into 4 quarters. Salt and pepper both patties.  Place half of the cheese on one patty, making sure that at least a quarter inch border is left free the whole way around.  Put bacon crumbles in the center of the cheese and top with the remaining cheese.  Place the second burger, seasoned side down, on top and firmly pinch the edges all around to seal.  Salt and pepper both sides of the burger. Grill or fry until both sides are to desired doneness.  You may have to re-press the edges with a spatula if they start to come apart so you don’t lose any of the melting cheese.

Serve on toasted buns with desired accompanying condiments.

You can do a wide range of variations, depending on your tastes.  Try with cheese, refried beans and a little salsa in the middle or bleu cheese, maybe cheese & diced mushrooms or onions… You get the idea.
