Binghamton basketball standout Jordan Reed has played his last game in a Bearcat uniform.  Reed, a junior, had his playing time dramatically reduced this season , did not play in the team's last three games and had asked for a leave of absence for an indefinite length of time. This afternoon word came from Binghamton University that Reed had requested and been granted a release to transfer from the school and the men's basketball program.  Reed will complete the fall academic semester at Binghamton.

Reed and head coach Tommy Dempsey had issues last season but Reed still had a knockout year averaging 15.4 points per game (third in America East) and 8.9 rebounds per contest (tops in the conference).  With a number of new players coming into the program this season Reed had his game minutes cut and had started just one game.

Reed leaves the program as one of the most dynamic players in school history.  At 6' 4" his leaping ability enabled him to become the only guard in America East history to win back-to-back rebounding titles.  His 33 points versus Hartford last season was a school single game Division I record.  That was broken in last Wednesday's game at Boston University when freshman forward Dusan Perovic scored 34 points.
