An Onondaga County man is charged with felony assault in connection with a fight outside a downtown Binghamton bar early August 21 that put another man in the hospital in critical condition.

Binghamton Police say the incident happened at 3:20 a.m., just after the bars closed, and possibly resulted from several altercations inside a bar spilling into the street.

22 year old Nicholas Ciampi of Jordan, New York was arrested at the scene.

At last report, the victim was being treated in an intensive care unit. He was said to have suffered face injuries, including a broken jaw, when Ciampi allegedly threw him to the ground and punched him repeatedly.

Ciampi posted bail following arraignment and was released to await further court action.
