Authorities say Nutanie Saysanavong of Johnson City was located at the scene of Saturday night's incident on the Court Street bridge.

Investigators say the 20-year-old woman who was pinned between the sport utility vehicle and the stone railing of the bridge sustained a severe leg injury.

Police say the woman who was hit was taken to Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City where part of her leg was surgically removed.

Detectives say Saysanavong is scheduled to appear in Binghamton City Court at a later date. They say additional charges may be filed.

The New York State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit is working with Binghamton police investigators to determine what occurred shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday.

People with information about the incident may contact detectives at 607.772.7080.

Mayor Richard David has said the Long Island woman who was hurt was in the city to visit a friend who is a Binghamton University student.

On WNBF Radio's Binghamton Now program Tuesday, David said he understood the vehicle driver may have been distracted during an argument with a passenger just prior to the crash.
