Another expense could be going up in the Village of Johnson City. Trustees are moving forward on a tentative $10 increase in water rates for the first 1,000 cubic feet of water used. Every additional 100 cubic feet of water used over the minimum would mean and additional $2.25 charge for village customers and $3.00 for those outside the village.

The increase would be the first in seven years and could help fill a $2 million hole in the village budget.

The proposal was discussed in a work session February 12th.
