Binghamton University's planned pharmacy school is to be constructed on a Corliss Avenue property in Johnson City.

State and university officials today revealed the school will be located on a five-and-a-half acre site one block south of Main Street.

The parcel at 96 Corliss Avenue is a short distance from Wilson Medical Center.

Officials said the property is being acquired for $2 million from Indian Valley Industries.

The pharmacy school initiative is expected to cost $60 million. An initial appropriation of $10 million was included in the state budget approved by lawmakers this year.

University officials say a 70,000 square-foot structure will house the school.

The university expects to hire a founding dean for the pharmacy school early next year. The first pharmacy students could be enrolled in three years.
