The Johnson City Senior Center is hosting a CarFit and prescription drug drop off July 19 at the Center on Brocton Street in the Village.

CarFit is a national program designed to give a quick check on how well an older driver and their vehicle work together using a 12-point check list.

The program addresses changes people experience when they age such as reflexes, vision and even size and height that could affect driving.  The program is free and appointments can be scheduled by calling (607) 778-2807.

Meanwhile, unwanted and old medications are being collected for proper disposal.  Medicine in standard containers can be deposited in those containers while loose items can be placed in plastic bags for deposit.  Liquid medication must be enclosed in secure containers before depositing.

The event is taking place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
