The Endicott Police Department bomb squad was called to the scene to search two medical office buildings near the hospital.

Harrison Street between Main Street and Park Place on the west side of the hospital was closed immediately after the shooting.

A New York State trooper directed traffic at the intersection of Main and Harrison streets. Although Harrison Street was out of service for the police investigation, traffic was maintained on Main Street.

Law enforcement officers secured the area near the shooting scene with yellow tape. Officers talked quietly in small groups as word circulated about the death of the Johnson City officer.

Police early this afternoon were at the Chenango County home of the shooting suspect. The residence is on Turner Street in Greene.
