A Johnson City police dog will be better protected while on the job as the result of a donation by a Massachusetts-based organization.

According to village police, a made-to-order bullet and stab protective vest has been delivered to the agency.

The vest is for C.J., an eight-year-old Dutch shepherd, who works for Johnson City police.

The protective equipment costs $950. It was donated by Vested Interest In K9s.

The donation was announced last April but the police department reports the vest was received recently.
