Jerry D'Amigo has joined Binghamton's long-time rival the Rochester Americans.  D'Amigo, a Johnson City native, was traded yesterday from the Columbus Blue Jackets organization to the Buffalo Sabres.  D'Amigo, who was playing with the Blue Jackets' American Hockey League affiliate in Springfield, was assigned to Buffalo's affiliate in Rochester.

D'Amigo played one season of college hockey at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in the 2009-10 season and turned pro after being selected by the Toronto Maple leafs in the 6th round of the 2009  NHL Entry Draft.  Last season he split time with the AHL's Toronto Marlies and the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs.  With the big club he played 22 games scoring one goal and notching two assists.  This season in Springfield D'Amigo had three goals and added a pair of assists in 28 games.

D'Amigo is scheduled to play tonight when the Amerks face Syracuse in Rochester.  D'Amigo would have been back home this weekend if not for the trade.  Springfield plays at Binghamton Friday night.  The Amerks are not due to play in Binghamton until April 18.
