Johnson City Man is Accused of Drunk Driving With a Child in the Vehicle
Johnson City man is facing several felony counts after he was stopped at a DWI Checkpoint on New Year’s Eve and found to have a blood alcohol content of twice the legal limit.
Village Police say 41 year old Mark Barrett is charged with felony drunk driving, felony operating with a blood alcohol content of .08% or higher and felony aggravated driving without a license.
He was also charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and endangering the welfare of a child.
Police say they had to chase Barrett on foot after he tried to run from the checkpoint.
The authorities say after apprehending Barrett a short distance away, they measured his blood alcohol content at .16% and he had a small amount of marijuana in his possession. Officials say he also had been driving drunk with a 16 year old passenger in the vehicle.
