A Johnson City man who was found to have one of the largest cache of weapons recovered in Broome County, is free on bond.

65 year old Ramadan Abdulla has posted bail and was released.

Authorities had responded to a shoplifting complaint at Gander Mountain in Johnson City May 31 and later found loaded handguns, assault weapons, ammunition feeding devices, armor-piercing rounds and other weapons and ammunition.

Police searched a storage unit in the Town of Union, rented in Abdulla’s name and that lead to a search of the man’s house and other properties tied to Abdullah where several weapons and ammunition were recovered.

According to prosecutors, Abdulla was not licensed or registered for any of the weapons.

Investigators have never said why they think the Johnson City man had all the weapons.

Abdulla was charged with six counts of criminal possession of a weapon and nine lesser counts of criminal possession of a weapon.  He was also inducted on a petit larceny charge.

Trial is set for November.
