A Johnson City man faces a felony criminal contempt charge after a reported dispute with a woman.

According to village police, 30-year-old Jamel Dale was arrested following the incident involving a girlfriend.

Authorities say Dale also was charged with criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation and criminal mischief, misdemeanors.

Police say Dale was accused of taking the woman's cellphone and not allowing her to call for help. He also was accused of choking her and violating an order of protection issued by Johnson City village court.

Dale was sent to Broome County Jail after his arraignment in village court.
