A 41-year-old man wanted on a parole warrant faces additional charges following a reported dispute in Johnson City.

Authorities say Willie Coaxum was arrested after the incident at an Ethel Street residence.

Police say when officers arrived, they recognized Coaxum and knew he was named in the warrant.

Officials say when Coaxum was told he was being arrested, he resisted. They say he threw something to the ground in an effort to conceal it from officers.

After Coaxum was in custody, police determined the item he had tossed was cocaine.

Coaxum was charged with tampering with evidence, a felony. He also faces counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest.
