A man who police say was bitten by a dog wound up in jail after he allegedly attacked the animal's owner.

Authorities say 26-year-old Jamell Jones tried to attack the dog after he was bitten on a leg.

Police say Jones then struck the dog's owner in the face several times when the owner intervened.

The dog owner went inside his apartment after another man separated the two.

Jones then is said to have entered the apartment, grabbed the dog owner by the throat and strangled the man until he was unconscious.

Jones was charged with felony burglary and strangulation. He was arraigned in Johnson City village court and sent to Broome County Jail without bail.
