Johnson City Police are advising residents that a company known as “Family Energy” is currently visiting homes to talk about alternative energy services.

The company does have a vendor’s permit but people should be aware that they are not Village employees or officials and do not represent the Village or New York State Electric and Gas.

Johnson City residents are not obligated or should be pressured to show the company their NYSEG bills.

Residents should ask to see Family Energy’s Village permit and proper ID and note the names of the people that come to their home.  A permit from the Town of Union is not a valid vendor’s permit in the village.

Residents who feel uncomfortable can call Village hall at (607) 797-9098 or if the person visiting won’t leave or show identification, call police at (607) 729-9321.
