Bob Joseph/WNBF News [file][/caption]Weather forecasters say there's a potential for flooding in the Twin Tiers this weekend because of rain associated with Hurricane Joaquin.

The region continued to cope with heavy rain that started late September 30 and was expected to diminish during the day October 1.

Forecasters said most areas were expected to receive a total of two to four inches of rain through late Wednesday.

Streams and rivers were rising because of the significant amount of rain following the prolonged period of dry weather but no major flooding had been reported.

Forecasters said some localized flash flooding could occur in area that received more than four inches of rain.

Looking ahead to Friday, forecasters said there is "a lot of uncertainty" about the system associated with Joaquin but it had the potential to bring enough rain to the Binghamton area to cause some problems.
