The Thirteenth Annual Jim 'Mudcat' Grant All-Star Golf Tournament returns to The Links at Hiawatha Landing on Thursday, August 28th.  The tournament is presented by Security Mutual Life Insurance Company of New York.  The official host of the event is former Major League pitcher Jim 'Mudcat' Grant.  Grant is one of the Black Aces.  The Black Aces term was coined by Grant to honor African-American pitchers who have won 20 or more games during a single season in the Major Leagues. He is one of fifteen to accomplish this milestone.

Grant pitched for 14 seasons in the Major Leagues, was a two-time all-star and went 21-7 in 1965 for the Minnesota Twins.  He helped lead his team into the World Series in 1965 against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Overall, he won 145 Big League games.  He has dedicated much of his life after baseball to helping charitable causes.

Along with 'Mudcat' other celebrities and past standout athletes expected to participate include from baseball: Fergie Jenkins, Mike Norris, Al Downing, Cliff Johnson, Dave Lemanczyk, Steve Kraly and Duke Sims.  From football: Pete Johnson, John Schmitt, Johnny Roland and Tony Jeter.  Syracuse Orange basketball coach Jim Boeheim is also expected to take part.

This year's tournament will benefit: The Broome County Urban League, Catholic Charities, CHOW, the Boys and Girls Club of Binghamton, Juvenile Diabetes and the U.S. Military.  More information is available at www.allstar-golf.com.
