Syracuse University Head Men's Basketball Coach Jim Boeheim will stay on for three more seasons and then retire. That word came out today.  ESPN and various Syracuse news resources report Boeheim will stay at the helm through the 2017-2018 season.

While Boeheim stays on Athletic Director Daryl Gross vacates his position. He has been the AD for a decade.  He will, however, remain with the University.  Gross will act as a special assistant to Chancellor Kent Syverud who made the announcements this morning in an e-mail release.  Gross will also will serve with the University's David B. Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics as an adjunct professor.  Peter Sala , Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Facilities and also Managing Director of the Carrier Dome, will serve as the interim Director of Athletics.

The moves come on the heels of penalties and sanctions announced following an eight-year long investigation into the Syracuse athletic department.

Boeheim is the second winningest coach in college basketball history.  His SU team won the 2003 national championship.  His teams have made the NCAA Final Four on four different occasions.  The Orange self-sanctioned themselves ahead of the NCAA investigation report.  They declined to be considered for any post-season games this year. Part of the NCAA sanctions included Boeheim sitting out Syracuse's first nine ACC conference games next season.
