Jets Do Just Enough
Despite a team record 20 penalties the New York Jets defeated the Buffalo Bills 27-20 earlier today. Quarterback Geno Smith was 16-29 for 331 yards and two interceptions for the Jets. His fellow rookie and opposing quarterback E J Manuel was 19-42 for 243 yards and one touchdown.
The Jets numerous penalties included several defensive off-sides calls that kept them scrambling but still enough to finish on top of the Bills. With the victory the Jets move to 2-1 while the Bills are now 1-2.
Earlier in the afternoon the New York Giants had a day they would like to forget. They were crushed by the Carolina Panthers 38-0. Eli Manning was sacked seven times and was able to complete just 12 passes in 23 attempts for 119 yards and a pair of interceptions.
Carolina was up 17-0 at the half. Quarterback Cam Newton threw for three touchdowns and ran for another in leading his team to the win. The Panthers are now 1-3 while the Giants are 0-3.
