Binghamton University track standout Jesse Garn has been honored by America East as the men's Most Outstanding Track Performer at the conference meet held on February 23-24 at the New York City Armory. Garn is a standout middle distance runner for the Bearcats.  Freshman sprinter Jon Alkins was named the men's outstanding rookie.

Garn won the 1000 and anchored the winning distance medley relay.  He broke the four minute mile in Boston on March 2nd where he posted a time of 3:59:33.  He was also the anchor on the 4 x 800 relay team at this weekend's ECAC/IC4A Championships.

Alkins finished first at the AE championship in the 200 and was runner-up in the 60.  In addition head coach Mike Thompson and his staff were selected as the men's Co-Coaching Staff of the Year.  BU shared the award with Albany.  Thompson's staff includes Annette Acuff, Gabe Fletcher and Adam Helman.

BU finished as the runner-up in both the men's and women's competition at the America East Indoor Championships. Binghamton has garnered second place in the conference men's competition six of the last seven seasons while the women earned second place honors for the first time in the indoor season.
