Police were called to Carhart Avenuue near Grand Avenue at 2:25 p.m. Saturday to investigate a report of a car that had gone onto a sidewalk and into the front yard of a home.

Authorities say officers discovered 19-year-old Kathryne Sayman of Harpursville at the front of the vehicle.

A witness told police Sayman had tried to turn from Carhart onto Grand Avenue. She then allegedly backed up and went across a sidewalk into the yard of a residence.

According to Johnson City police, Sayman was arrested because she appeared to be in an "impaired condition."

Officers found several needles in the car. Police say one of the needles was filled with codeine. A dagger also was discovered in the vehicle.

Sayman was transported to Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City for treatment.

Sayman was charged with driving while her ability was impaired by drugs and criminal possession of a weapon. She also was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and possession of a hypodermic instrument. She faces counts of failure to keep right, backing unsafely and driving on the sidewalk.

Sayman was ordered to appear in Johnson City village court on October 19.
