Standout freshman guard Jasmine Sina of the Binghamton Bearcats has been named the America East Rookie of the Year in women's basketball. The announcement came at Friday night's America East banquet at the Events Center where the conference's post-season tournament is being held this weekend.

Sina and freshman teammate Imani Watkins were named to the America East All-Rookie Team as well.  Sina is the third Binghamton player to be named the America East Rookie of the Year.  Andrea Holmes and Jasbriell Swain also won the award.

Sina has had a tremendous freshman season.  She is scoring 14.7 points per game  which is fifth in conference scoring.  Her scoring average is the second best total by a freshman in Binghamton program history. Alicia Brennan holds the top spot when she scored 16.0 points per game in the 1986-87 campaign.

Sina was named the America East Rookie of the Week a conference-best five times this season.  Watkins garnered the honors on three occasions.
