Ithaca Woman Arrested After Driving Into Swamp
State police say troopers found a vehicle stuck in a swampy area behind a Tompkins County grocery store. The driver was charged with felony DWI.
Authorities say 23-year-old Kristen Avery of Ithaca was arrested Wednesday.
According to police, someone called 911 to report an erratic driver. A vehicle with a road barrel stuck under it was seen in the parking lot of Shurfine Grocery in Ulysses.
The vehicle was discovered mired in a swamp with the driver still behind the wheel.
Avery was arraigned in Ulysses town court and released to an attorney.
