Residents are being warned to lock their vehicles, homes and garages following a string of thefts. Items have been stolen from cars over the past several days in the Town of Union.

Broome County Sheriff’s officials say the cars were unlocked and, in some cases, in unlocked garages.

Items like credit cards, debit cards and electronics were reported stolen.

The thefts were reported on Taft Avenue, Southern Pines Drive, Buffalo Street and JFK Boulevard.

Officials say vehicles should be locked when they are unattended, even if the owner is home.

Valuable property should not be left even in a locked vehicle.

Anyone with information about the thefts is asked to the Sheriff’s tip line at (607) 778-1196.
