The Village of Waverly and Tioga County Tourism have grand plans for the Waverly Glen Park.

The facility may not be well know, even regionally, but officials hope to change that with an outline for repaving and widening the road at the park, improving the pavilion and iinstalling an amphitheater for concerts.

The park was actually established in the early 1900s and includes access to 12 miles of hiking trails in the neighboring Twin Rivers State Park.

Tioga Tourism is applying for $660,000 from New York State for the first part of the rehabilitation project.

The Mildred Faulkner Truman Foundation granted $15,000 for the plans drawn up by Haas Landscape Architects.

Officials hope additional projects in the future will include improving access to the waterfall area, additional parking and shoring up the creek banks.
