Area emergency service agencies say they have had little activity involving weather-related crashes December 28-29 with one dispatcher commenting that people were smart and staying home.

Most of New York State and Northern Pennsylvania remained under a Winter Weather Advisory until 1 p.m. December 29 with more sleet, freezing rain and a little snow predicted.

Motorists are reminded to give themselves extra time and take it slow since roads are sleet-covered.

Road crews had been out since the early morning hours plowing and salting but authorities say the usual trouble spots like bridges, higher elevations and some outlying areas may be more slippery.
