Hoodie Ban Linked to Dignity For All Students Act
Binghamton City School District officials are discussing compliance with the Dignity For All Students Act that is intended to help fight bullying.
In addition to conversation about cyber-bullying and what is seen as traditional forms of bullying like in-person intimidation, adjustments to the school dress code have also come up in a public hearing about the district code of conduct.
Officials are considering a ban on certain items of clothing like ‘hoodies’ or other items that block a student’s face.
A vote on the code of conduct and compliance with the Dignity For All Students Act is expected June 18.
