People all over America are celebrating Memorial Day today.  For many it is a chance to relax with a day off from work and enjoy family and friends.  For Americans it is also a time to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice to keep our country free.

Numerous ceremonies were held throughout the day in our area.  Parades began as early as 8 PM at Post 1700 in Union Center.  Parades were held later in the morning in Owego, Endicott, Johnson City and other Villages and Municipalities honoring our military personnel and fallen soldiers.

In Binghamton a parade was held beginning at 2 PM. The parade began at Post 80 and continued down Main and Court Streets to the Broome County Courthouse.

Parades featured veteran's groups, marching bands, fire and police personnel and military equipment.
