The New York State Sheriff’s Association Institute is starting its annual Honorary Membership drive in Broome County.

The flagship program of the Institute is the Sheriffs’ Summer Camp for economically challenged children.

The camp program is in its 37th year at Keuka Lake.

The Sheriffs’ Association Institute each year pays the entire costs for each of the 840 children, including camp stay and transportation.

The Institute was established in 1979 and is a non-profit corporation, tax exempt organization and contributions from the public are tax deductible.

Anyone wanting to become an Honorary Member who did not receive an invitation in the mail should contact their local Sheriff or go to the organization’s website at www.sherifsinstitute.org.
