What started out appearing to be the act of a Good Samaritan has ended up in charges filed against a Homer woman.

Cortland County Sheriff’s officials say Saturday, June 4, 34 year old Stephanie Greene turned a wallet she found over to police.

The wallet, which was picked up at the Aldi Food Market on Route 13 in Cortlandville, had money inside it when it was dropped. But the money was not turned over to police and authorities say their investigation implicates Greene.

The woman is charged with petit larceny.
