As the regular season of high school football heads to the fourth quarter there are some big battles set for this weekend.  Our WNBF broadcast tonight will take us to Ty Cobb Stadium in Endicott as neighborhood rivals Maine-Endwell and Union-Endicott collide. Even though U-E is an "A" classification and M-E competes in 'B' play this is tossed out the window tonight (Friday) at 7:00 PM (6:50 on News Radio 1290 WNBF).

Both teams will try to rebound from losses last weekend.  The Spartans are not used to rebounding from a loss.  They had won 53 consecutive games against Section 4 opponents prior to last weekend's loss to Elmira.  The Tigers fell in overtime to Vestal last weekend.  It is Senior Night and the Little league World  Series Champions from Maine-Endwell will be honored as well.  Two of those players attend U-E schools.

Another good match-up will be just across the river from U-E as the Vestal Golden Bears host the Binghamton Patriots.  Vestal is 5-1 and ranked in the top 25 Class A schools in the state.

Harpursville/Afton puts its unbeaten record on the line as they travel to face once-beaten Greene.  CV makes the trek to meet 4-2 Windsor and Owego, also at 4-2 heads on the road to face Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour.  6-0 Unatego plays at 1-5 Bainbridge-Guiulford and Walton, at 4-2, travels to winless Unadilla Valley.

On Saturday, the top team in the state in Class 'B', Chenango Forks, will put its 6-0 slate on the line against 3-3 Norwich.  Another huge battle will take place at Newark Valley where the Cardinals host Spencer-Van Etten/Candor.  Newark Valley is 6-0 while Spencer-Van Etten/Candor is 5-1 overall.
