Hickories Park in Tioga County will be closing after this weekend.

Town of Owego officials say the park will be closed after 7 a.m. Monday. It will remain out of service until further notice.

Officials say all campers must leave the park by noon Sunday.

The town is planning to replace a temporary park entrance. The existing single-lane entrance requires drivers coming into the park to stop to allow any vehicles leaving to pass by.

The permanent bridge at the entrance adjacent to the Susquehanna River should be ready for use next spring.

A sewer system for park campsites also is to be installed in coming months. An anonymous donor has contributed $100,000 to cover part of the project's cost.
