Heroin Seized in Tioga County Traffic Stop

New York State Police say they found a Waverly man in possession of over 600 bags of heroin after they stopped him on Route 17 near the Town of Owego at 7:55 p.m. New Year’s Eve.

33 year old Eric Derrig is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle and numerous vehicle and traffic charges.

Troopers say they found 643 bags of heroin, $354 and a hypodermic needle.

Derrig was sent to the Tioga County Jail without bail.
