Police confiscated heroin, cocaine and cash from an Endwell man a few feet from Union-Endicott High School.

Authorities say 38-year-old David Cheeseboro of Delaware Avenue was taken into custody shortly after 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

Cheeseboro faces counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and tampering with physical evidence. Both charges are felonies.

Cheeseboro was arrested after a traffic stop on Washington Avenue, just south of East Main Street.

Police say Cheeseboro tried to swallow a plastic straw containing heroin.

Investigators have been targeting street-level drug sales in Endicott. Police Chief Patrick Garey said although the vehicle stop happened near the high school, the suspected drug activity was occurring elsewhere in the village.

In addition to the drugs, police seized $1,093 in cash. Cheeseboro was arraigned in Endicott village court and sent to Broome County Jail without bail.
