The Broome County Department of Mental Health is getting funds to help people with substance abuse and other issues transition from prison back into the community.

$132,000 is being provided for a re-entry task force for services to people under community supervision.

In addition to substance abuse counseling, the group is planning to coordinate mental health treatment and job training to help develop social skills for people re-entering the general population.

The task force includes county and state officials as well as law enforcement, mental health professionals, and social services representatives
