Heavy Rains Hit Area

Heavy rains and thunderstorms are passing through our region.  The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued an urban and small stream advisory for Southwestern Broome County and Southeastern Tioga County until 7:45 PM.  In addition the NWS has issued a Flash Flood Watch for Broome, Chenango, Otsego and Tioga Counties in New York and Bradford County in Northeast Pa. in effect until 3 AM Thursday.

As of 5 PM News Radio 1290 WNBF was receiving numerous reports of street and intersection flooding all around our listening area. Rainfall amounts have varied and that is expected to be the case into the evening hours.

Motorists are urged to use caution on area roadways and to avoid travel into or through underpasses with flooded conditions .  National Weather Service alerts and advisories will be aired as they become available on News Radio 1290 WNBF.
